Position Title: Youth Programming Coordinator
Classification: FLSA non-exempt, 19 hrs/week
Reports to: Bulloch County Youth Services Manager
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY

This person works with the Youth Services Manager and Regional Youth Services Librarian to plan, coordinate, and provide Youth programming at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library and outreach locations. The Youth Programming Coordinator manages the Reading Is FUNdamental (RIF) programs and materials for Bulloch County.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS • Coordinates and plans youth programming for the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library • Promotes youth programming and develops program evaluation and promotional materials • Promotes library resources and the importance of reading to youth and their caregivers • Secures and coordinates appearances by outside presenters, speakers, and authors for youth programs • Develops and maintains partnerships/relationships with area colleges and universities, civic groups, agencies and others to provide a broader range of youth programming and early literacy • Participates on the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library programming committee • Targets potential revenue sources for special library programs, including grant writing and administration • Responsible for selecting, ordering, processing and distributing books for Reading Is FUNdamental program • Trains and supervises volunteers • Works with the Youth Services Manager, Bulloch County Library Manager, and Regional Youth Services Librarian to ensure programs meet Library programming goals and objectives • Other duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training and/or Experience • College degree • Youth programming experience or related training • Experience working with youth in a group setting • Knowledge of current information technology, social networking, Internet, and database search capabilities Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Outstanding human relations and communication skills • Must be able to work independently and deal responsibly with confidential records and matters • Strong oral and written communication skills • Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making in meeting organizational objectives • Ability to thrive working in an environment with constant public contact with people from all backgrounds • Ability to creatively solve problems, negotiate and handle stressful situations in a positive manner • Ability to use tact and diplomacy in working with staff, and the public • Flexibility: ability to return to interrupted tasks and prioritize needs, duties and activities • Ability to be adaptable while working with the public, volunteers, school and library staff to establish goals, solve problems and improve library services • Able to follow established policies and procedures • Ability to set goals and meet deadlines • Ability to meet the work schedule of the job • Access to a reliable means of personal transportation • Ability to drive a car and hold a valid Georgia driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Adult programming experience or related training • Experience in project management • Library experience • Grant writing experience
PHYSICAL SKILLS • Ability to sit or stand and use computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, daily • Ability to lift and move up to forty (40) pounds and push one hundred (100) pounds, occasionally
TRAINING, SUPERVISION, AND EVALUATION The Youth Programming Coordinator is supervised and evaluated by the Bulloch County Youth Services Manager. Additional support and guidance is provided by the Regional Youth Services Librarian.

Position Title: Genealogy & Local History Coordinator
Classification: FLSA non-exempt, 16 hrs/week
Reports to: Bulloch County Library Manager
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY This position is responsible for providing a broad range of genealogy and local history-related services at the Statesboro-Bulloch County Library. The Genealogy & Local History Coordinator maintains and builds collections of materials, assists library users, and directs related volunteer activities.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS • Provides assistance and reference services in the areas of genealogy and local history • Assists library users with the use of computers, printers, copy machines and other equipment and troubleshoots equipment as needed • Is responsible for development and maintenance of genealogy and local history collections • Monitors and manages sales of Genealogy materials • Manages the conversion of historical documents to new formats with emphasis on access • Promotes the donation process; evaluates gifts for condition and usefulness • Supervises and trains volunteers • Plans and presents genealogy and local history programming at the library and in related agencies and venues • Initiates, plans, and conducts a variety of programs and activities to encourage the use of genealogy and local history resources • Develops and maintains partnerships/relationships with area colleges and universities, civic groups, agencies and others to improve and provide a broader range of genealogy and local history services • Works with the Bulloch County Library Manager to ensure that genealogy and local history services meet Library goals and objectives • Other duties as assigned
