Library Cards

pines-cardThe Statesboro Regional Library System participates in PINES, a statewide lending network. Your library card, which must be presented each time you borrow materials, may be used at 105 Georgia libraries. Initial cards are FREE, and are available to all residents of Georgia.

Patrons of non-participating Georgia public libraries may receive a card from any PINES library. Persons who attend school, own property or are employed in Georgia are also eligible for a free card. Current ID must be shown at the time of registration. Property owners who do not reside in the state may be required to show proof of ownership. Proof of school attendance or employment within the state may also be required. All others wishing to obtain a PINES library card will be charged a $25 annual fee.

There is no minimum age for a child to receive a PINES card.

A parent or legal guardian may register a child [1999.05] for a library card and must show proper ID. A parent or legal guardian must sign the application for all children under 18. Signing a child’s PINES card application denotes acceptance of responsibility for all fines, lost, or damaged materials on behalf of the parents or guardians.

Limits

There is a maximum of 50 items per cardholder. In consideration of others, we ask that you limit the number of items on one subject to five (5). If the library does not have that many items on a particular subject, we may ask that you limit you selection to less than five items. We also ask that you do not check out every book written by a single author.

  • Audiobooks – no age limit for check out. Limit of 15 per borrower. Holds can be placed on audiobooks within STRL.
  • DVDs – Limit of 15 DVDs per card. DVDs are counted per barcoded item. DVDs can not be placed on hold and do not have renewals.
Teachers can arrange to place books on temporary reserve for student use at the Library by calling the Assistant Manager at 764-1346.

Patrons of non-participating Georgia public libraries may receive a card from any PINES library. Persons who attend school, own property or are employed in Georgia are also eligible for a free card. Current I.D. must be shown at the time of registration. Property owners who do not reside in the state may be required to show proof of ownership. Proof of school enrollment or employment within the state may also be required.

Out-of-state cards are available to persons living outside Georgia who do not meet the above criteria for a $25 annual fee.
