Borrowing Priviledges
  1.   How do I get a library card?

Fill out an application at the circulation desk, and present your driver's license or other identification with your name and address. Minors under 16 years of age must be accompanied by a legal guardian who signs and completes the application form. Your card will be ready for immediate use. Just present your card when you wish to borrow materials.

  2.   What are the fines for overdue materials?

Daily overdue charge for books, and audio tapes is $.10 per day/per item. Overdue videos are $.50 per day/per item and Inter-Library loan materials are $1.00 per day/per item. Charges will not exceed the original cost of the material.

  3.   Do I have to come to the library to renew materials?

You may renew items in person at the Circulation desk, by phone or use your Pines PIN number to renew items from home. If you want to renew items from home please ask at the Circulation Desk for your personal identification number. If you call, have your library card and items handy. All materials can be renewed twice (except videos) unless there is a hold placed by another patron. In this case the staff will ask you to return the item promptly. If you need the item again we will be happy to place your name on the reserve list.

  4.   What if I lose or damage something I have borrowed?

If an item you borrow is damaged and cannot be easily repaired by us, you will be charged the replacement cost of the item. We will also charge for any late fees if the damaged item is overdue. If an item is lost we will charge the replacement cost of the material. Staff will ask you to search for lost items before making a payment. Charges for lost items will be based on the inventory price of the item. Charges for lost items borrowed from other libraries will be based on the lending librarys policies. If a lost item is found and returned within 1 year of payment, and the original receipt showing payment for the lost item is produced, a refund of the paid replacement value, minus the overdue fines which have accrued, will be given. The found materials may be returned to any PINES library, with the understanding that the owning library will be the final authority on whether the material is in acceptable condition for return. The owning library will issue a refund check to the patron via U.S. Mail. The refund check will be payable to the library cardholder on whose record the materials were circulated.
