The Youth Services Department provides assistance in finding children's and young adult materials as well as offering a variety of programs such as ToddlerTime, StoryTime, Vacation Reading Programs, and other youth activities. Check our calendar for a list of upcoming programs.

The library provides staff responsible for the maintenance of a juvenile collection which includes materials for children from birth through the young adult years. Staff also assists children in finding material appropriate for their needs, and reading skill. For infants and toddlers there are board books, and simple picture books. Preschoolers and kindergartners are offered a wide array of picture books in our Easy Books collection which is a special section featuring books for beginning readers. Older children will find fiction and non-fiction that span all subject areas and a varied selection of magazines, paperbacks and comics. All children`s cassettes, compact discs and videos are located in the Children's Department.

Children's Activity Room

A variety of fun activities and programs are held in the Children's Activity room throughout the year. These include story hours, toddler times, puppet shows, craft programs as well as Vacation Reading programs.

Story Times

Story Time is for children between the ages of four and ten, is free of charge, and lasts for one half hour. During story time, children experience picture books - from beloved classics to popular new releases - being read aloud. Registration is not required, but seating is limited, so we do request that you phone ahead when bringing a group of twelve of more. For further information, please call the Children's department at (912) 764-1344 and ask to speak with Elaine.
